Pivotwell™ Photo Rotation Check (Mac): the Lightroom Classic plug-in and the standalone app

The installer asks what to install: both (the default), only the Lightroom Classic plug-in, or only the
standalone app, which needs no Lightroom. One license covers both.

TO INSTALL

  1. If you are installing the Lightroom plug-in, quit Lightroom Classic.
  2. Double-click "Install Pivotwell". macOS asks once whether to open an app downloaded from the
Internet: click Open. (The installer is signed and checked by Apple.)
  3. Choose what to install and click Install. A message says when it is done.
  4. The app: open Applications > ThePictureOrg (or Launchpad) > Pivotwell. It opens in your web browser and
     works only on this Mac.
The plug-in: start Lightroom Classic. Select photos, then Library > Plug-in Extras > Check rotation.

The plug-in goes into Lightroom's own plug-in folder for your user:
     ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules/PictureOrgRotationCheck.lrplugin
The app goes into Applications > ThePictureOrg (or the same in the Applications folder in your home folder):
Pivotwell.app (an older copy straight in Applications is replaced; if you kept it in the Dock, drag
it in again from Applications > ThePictureOrg)
To update later, open the installer from the new download the same way; it replaces the old version.
To remove them, open "Uninstall Pivotwell".
If anything goes wrong, the installer keeps a log for support:
     ~/Library/Logs/PictureOrg/RotationCheck-install.log

On a Mac with an Intel processor, the installer also offers a one-time setup that downloads the image
libraries (it needs Python 3 from python.org and an internet connection).

INSTALLING THE PLUG-IN BY HAND INSTEAD

Right-click "Install Pivotwell" > Show Package Contents > Contents > Resources, and copy
PictureOrgRotationCheck.lrplugin somewhere permanent (for example Documents/Lightroom Plug-ins). Then in
Lightroom Classic choose File > Plug-in Manager > Add and pick it.

The full User Guide is inside the plug-in (right-click PictureOrgRotationCheck.lrplugin > Show Package
Contents > docs > Photo-Rotation-Check-User-Guide.html).
